Living heritage

Be it sacred....a means of livelihood.. or a part of celebration, Indians considered plants/trees as a gift of nature. Plants were a part of food, agriculture, clothing, medicine, art, rituals, worships and festivals.

"Vriksho Rakshati Rakshitaha" "Protect the plants, plants in turn protect you",

was the philosophy that guided our ancestors who lived in harmony with nature.

Enough evidence to show how dense forest covered India. Thanks Rapid industrialization and hap hazard development, our country lost a major share of forests to industrial activities.Growing population and increasing demand has made once a sacred tree as just a raw material.

You walk by them everyday, but do you know their names? Trees may be a familiar part of your environment, but do you really know a thing about then or an ash from an elder?

Well here is a small attempt to know more about our saviour trees.
